حمل و نقل عمومی

  • سیستم حمل‌ونقل عمومی در هلیفکس، هلیفکس ترانزیت است.

  • هالیفکس ترانزیت شامل اتوبوس‌ها و کشتی‌های مسافربری می‌شود.

  • نام و شماره مسیر اتوبوس‌ها روی جلوی اتوبوس یا کناره آن نوشته شده است.

  • اتوبوس‌ها در دو جهت حرکت می‌کنند، بنابراین مطمئن شوید که در مسیر درست سوار می‌شوید.

  • بیشتر اتوبوس‌ها ساعت ۶:۰۰ صبح حرکت خود را شروع کرده و تا ۱۲:۰۰ نیمه‌شب ادامه می‌دهند.

  • در شب‌ها و آخر هفته‌ها، سرویس اتوبوس کمتر است.

  • در برخی تعطیلات مانند روز سال نو، روز کانادا و کریسمس سرویس اتوبوس کاهش یافته (یا گاهی افزایش) پیدا می‌کند.

  • اگر در زمستان هوا بد باشد، اتوبوس‌ها ممکن است بر اساس برنامه برف حرکت کنند، یعنی برخی مسیرها تغییر می‌کنند.

  • سالمندان روزهای سه‌شنبه از ساعت ۱۰:۰۰ صبح تا ۳:۰۰ بعدازظهر و بعد از ساعت ۶:۰۰ عصر می‌توانند به صورت رایگان سفر کنند.

  • اتوبوس‌ها فقط در ایستگاه‌های اتوبوس و ترمینال‌ها توقف می‌کنند

  • تمام اتوبوس‌های هالیفکس ترانزیت برای صندلی چرخدار و کالسکه کودک مناسب هستند.

  • برخی اتوبوس‌ها دارای محل قرارگیری دوچرخه در جلوی خود هستند.

  • اگر چیزی را در اتوبوس گم کردید، با شماره 902-490-6617 بین ساعت ۸ صبح تا ۴ عصر (دوشنبه تا جمعه) تماس بگیرید. وسایل پیدا شده را می‌توانید از ترمینال پل دارتموث دریافت کنید.

  • You can buy Monthly Passes and bus tickets at Shoppers Drug Mart, Lawtons Drugs and some bus terminals.

  • To find which retail partners are selling tickets, click here.

  • Children aged 0-12 ride for free.

  • Full-time university and college students are eligible for a discounted Upass (registration is through the institute they study at).

  • Some employers may be part of the EPass program and offer a discounted transit pass.

Buss Transfer

  • You can buy Monthly Passes and bus tickets at Shoppers Drug Mart, Lawtons Drugs and some bus terminals.

  • A transfer allows you to connect to other buses (or ferries) to complete your trip without buying an additional fare.

  • Transfers are available if you use a single ticket or pay cash.

  • The time that your transfer finishes is at the bottom (usually up to 90 minutes from the time you entered the bus, but sometimes it is longer).

  • Ask your bus driver for a transfer when you get on the bus or pay for the ferry

Affordable Access Transit Pass Program

  • You can apply for the Affordable Access Transit Pass Program to get 50% off your monthly Transit passes. It is open for residents with low income.

Buss Rules and Special Services

Bus Rules
  • Food and drinks must be in sealable containers.

  • Service animals are allowed. Small animals are allowed in carriers.

  • Young children must travel with an adult.

  • No yelling or bad language.

  • Offer your seat to seniors or people with disabilities.

  • Luggage and bags cannot block the aisle.

 

Special Bus Services
  • Request-A-Stop Program – available to those needing to get off the bus in an unscheduled stop.

  • Available to those who need to travel after dark or have mobility impairment.

  • Park and Ride allows you to park in bus terminals and parking spaces for the duration of your bus trip.

  • Access-a-Bus – Door-to-Door, shared service for people unable to use regular services due to disabilities.

  • MetroLink – High-speed (express) bus service from Dartmouth and Sackville to Downtown Halifax

  • MetroX – High-speed (express)airport transportation

Halifax Ferries

Ferries
  • There are two ferry routes between Halifax and Dartmouth.

  • The Alderney Ferry crosses from the Halifax waterfront to Alderney Landing in downtown Dartmouth.

  • The Woodside Ferry crosses from the Halifax waterfront to Woodside.

  • Eating is allowed on the ferries.

Ride/Car Sharing

Ride/Car Sharing
  • Food and drinks must be in sealable containers.

  • You may be able to carpool with other people. This means that you drive together and share the cost of gas.

  • You can find carpool options here: Carpool World, www.kijiji.ca, and SmartRide Halifax.

  • Make sure you are very careful when using a ride-sharing service as you are going with people you don’t know.

  • Car Share Atlantic (www.carshareatlantic.ca) provides access to a fleet of cars through a variety of membership options.

Long Distance Travel

Maritime Bus
  • Food and drinks must be in sealable containers.

  • Maritime Bus provides bus service within New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia with connections to Quebec & West.

  • You can buy tickets online at www.maritimebus.com or in some bus service locations.

  • You can see the bus map, schedule, sellers and prices on the website.

Via Rail
  • VIA Rail trains go across Canada and stop in many of Canada’s major cities.

  • You can buy train tickets: online at http://www.viarail.ca
